ABOUT ME
I didn’t arrive at this work through theory—I lived it.
My name is Kaylan Gonzalez, and today I express my journey as an actor, painter, author, and speaker—using creativity and storytelling as powerful tools for connection, healing, and truth.
But my path to this point has taken me through some of the most demanding environments imaginable.
I’ve worked as a soldier, a prison officer, a firefighter, and later as a trauma-informed mental health therapist. I also spent time working on the front counter of a main police station, often as the first point of contact for people in distress, while supporting officers internally as a wellbeing champion.
Before all of that, I was an athlete, boxing for Gibraltar, where I learned discipline, resilience, and how to push beyond my limits from a young age.
From the outside, my life looked strong, structured, and in control.
But internally, I was navigating something very different.
From an early age, I was a sensitive and highly aware child, deeply attuned to people and my environment. As life unfolded, I experienced loss, pressure, and challenging environments that shaped how I responded to the world.
Like many people, I learned to cope by pushing forward—through discipline, performance, and constant movement.
For years, that approach worked.
Until it didn’t.
What followed was a period of intense anxiety, burnout, and physical health challenges that brought everything to a stop. I reached a point where I could no longer override what my body was trying to tell me.
That moment became a turning point.
Instead of continuing to push, I began to listen.
This marked the beginning of a deep journey inward—one that took me through meditation, nervous system awareness, inner work, and a deeper understanding of what it means to be human.
A pivotal experience during a 10-day silent meditation retreat shifted my entire perspective. I realised that what I once saw as “problems” were in fact intelligent responses—my body trying to protect me.
From there, my path expanded.
I explored mindfulness, breathwork, creativity, movement, and different ways of understanding ourselves. Through painting, storytelling, writing, and performance, I found new ways to process, express, and transform what I had lived.
This journey eventually led me to travel across different parts of the world, where I lived and learned from various indigenous cultures and communities. Despite their differences, they all shared a common understanding:
Healing happens through connection—to ourselves, to others, and to the present moment.
Today, I bring together everything I’ve lived, learned, and experienced.
As an actor, speaker, author, and artist, I use storytelling to explore the realities of trauma, resilience, identity, and transformation. My work is about creating honest conversations, meaningful connection, and spaces where people feel seen.
My work is grounded, practical, and deeply human—because I know what it’s like to be on the other side.
This isn’t about fixing yourself.
It’s about understanding yourself.
Because you are not broken—you adapted.
And when you learn how to listen, everything begins to change.
